I worked at Dollar Tree full-time (Less than a year)

Pros

If you like challenges this is the job.

Cons

Margins for the business model so low that there are not enough hours to give hourly associates to effectively get the job done. Therefore the salaried store manager based on a 45 hr work week must work 65+ hours to make up the difference.

Advice to Management

either shareholders need to take a few million less and give to the stores(or district) budgets or the price point needs to be increased so we can hire enough coverage to take care of freight, customer service, the abundant seasonal transitions, training, and the additional corporate responsibilities (paperwork) we must keep up with.

I have been working at Dollar Tree part-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Friendly staff, good work environment, great manager to work for. I feel like Dollar Tree really values the employees.

    Cons

Stock room could have better stacked pallets and more room to maneuver. It makes it hard to unload trucks at times.

    Advice to Management

When someone works freight they need to restack the pallet correctly to save time the next morning.

I worked at Dollar Tree full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Great Autonomy for the most part at how you run your store within Corporate Payroll limits.

    Cons

Like most retailers, not enough payroll hours to keep up with the daily operations.

    Advice to Management

Learn to recognize the top performers and pay them accordingly and allow more payroll as the sales grow. I often had to cut hours to help offset low sales at other stores in my district.
