I worked at Dollar Tree part-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

You have a chance to interact with some very nice customers and employees. You will always stay busy and have an assignment to complete.

    Cons

Dollar Tree in Charlotte employees some managers who are unprofessional and immature. My store manager, who was temperary, fits into this catagory. He will blame his employees for the opportunities upper management has pointed out to him for improvment instead of being accountable for his own mistakes and making corrections, enforce training and coaching when needed.

    Advice to Management

Do not give this temperary store a permnant position until he learns how to run a store properly. He is too immature for the position as well, and most of the employees there do not respect him because he doesn't respect his employees. Also, employees need more than 15-20hrs a week. You can afford to have more full-time employees. Happy employees are productive employees.

I have been working at Dollar Tree part-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

The orientation covered everything about working at Dollar Tree including breaks, loss prevention, how employees should be treated with respect and an understanding that it will take you a while to learn new skills. Will hire anyone for entry level positions.

    Cons

The fact that management doesn't care about their own advice, disrespects their employees by yelling down to them, shooting the breeze with each other during work time and the sporadic part time hours. Also the management was on different pages and had no coordination what so ever. Lack of full time opportunities. Felt no respect as an employee. Minimum salary for a lot of work to open up a new store.

    Advice to Management

Treat your employees with respect and have patience teaching them new skills especially when your having them do something drastic like stock an entire store in less then a week understaffed and under equipped.
