I have been working at Dollar Tree part-time (Less than a year)

Pros

I was able to gain experience as a cashier, so counting money and interacting with people. These are two good skills that many will need moving forward in their careers (especially people skills).

Cons

The store management lacked accountability from within which led to internal issues. Pay (minimum wage) does not match the work we had to do.

Advice to Management

Interact more with the employees and store management to be more on one accord with the stores needs.

I worked at Dollar Tree full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Assistant Managers get bonuses. As a part time employee there is a great deal of flexibility for scheduling. It's a great place to shop but not work. If you enjoy working hard it's a great place for you.

    Cons

Minimum wage and 10 cent annual increases. There is no discount given for employees. Hire only part time and do not allow you to go over 25 hours because you would qualify for benefits. Expect you to work for twice as hard as they are paying you. There is a huge variance between the amount they pay males vs females. The company does not value it's employees. The annual employee appreciation day is composed of you handing out 10% off coupons only to generate extra revenue for the corporation. There is no reward or party for the employees. After 10 years of employment you are rewarded with the equivalence of a $25 gift card. If you are hired as an assistant manager you are nothing more than a glorified stocker with stress.

    Advice to Management

    Completely restructure the company.
