I worked at Dow Corning full-time (More than 3 years)

Pros

flexible schedule, co-workers attitude to have everyone succeed, ability to be honest without any retribution, varied markets each with their challenges, the ability to have a varied career go from technical to marketing and back,

Cons

some of the internal procedures seem to take longer than I anticipated, sometimes a slow response for business decisions, sometimes the internal acronyms do not match industry,

Advice to Management

it might be tough to attract seasoned talent after the last round of cut backs

I have been working at Dow Corning full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

The employees are great as far as working as a team. The majority are very skilled and technical. Benfits are very good.

    Cons

Upper Management (CEO AND CIO) does not communicate their direction and have destroyed the trust of the employees and the culture that was once Dow Cornings Shining Star. Dow Corning no longer values its people like they used to. The people used to the most important asset, now they are the most important liqued asset to reduce costs. It appears the direction is to go against current industry trends and outsource as opposed to internalize. As others have noted, if you know how to play the politics and are a "yes man" you can advance. Otherwise, you are gone.

    Advice to Management

Please take your misguided directions to another company.

I worked at Dow Corning full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

External new hires can make decent money because it is so cheap to live in Midland

    Cons

The company is run by two people. The CEO and CFO. All decisions come from them and everyone must follow. No more collaboration. No more great culture.

    Advice to Management

Get fired so other people can fix the place.
