I have been working at Dow Jones full-time (More than a year)

Pros

people I work with are fun. snack bar always loaded

Cons

management has no idea what they are doing. from supervisor level who are young kids straight out of college running the show for the departments to upper management this company is a joke. pay is also really low. recently interviewed at a competitor and when we were discussing compensation she laughed and made me repeat it. Also moving up within the company is horrible since hardly anyone moves up

Advice to Management

higher pay and get some structure Mr. Lenwick and Ms. Chin

I have been working at Dow Jones full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Don't have to go to NYC

    Cons

Everything. Every third guy is a manager who literally blocks you from getting exposure and he/she is just a warm body acting as a conduit to give requirements. Many managers are technically too weak. No promotions and salary increase does not even match inflation. Recent DJX related company direction has almost killed the company in terms of revenue. Arrogant Bloomberg team is responsible for this debacle.

    Advice to Management

Get rid of army of middle managers and save money. Recognize workers who really develops and supports products and pay them well.

"Hoping they can clean up the awful mess left by ex-CEO Lex Fenwick and his ex-Bloomberg minions."

I have been working at Dow Jones full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Used to be a great place to work.

    Cons

Over the last few years constant (and not well thought out) change in senior management and strategy meant nothing but confusion for staff and customers.

    Advice to Management

Stop changing for the sake of change. Realize the value of the products you sell and why customers buy them. Stop hiring senior managers who have no idea what they are doing and do not value their talented staff. Listen to front line staff who best understand the products and the customers. Stop hiring Bloomerg rejects.
