I worked at Duke Energy full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Very high pay for the work done. You get a lot of days off with a rotating schedule. Top pay is almost $35 an hour for fossil operators.

    Cons

There is no support from management. Hard work gets you no where with the company. Benefits have been cut over the last few years and now they are pushing high deductible insurance on everyone.

    Advice to Management

Need to worry less about mergers and more about your people.

I have been working at Duke Energy full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Good weather, located in nice area

    Cons

Cheap, not concerned with employees, don't value the work done. Merging with Progress Energy was the worst move in my time with this company.

    Advice to Management

Value nuclear training and the people who do it
