I worked at Duke University part-time (Less than a year)

Pros

Duke is a great place to work as a student. There are tons of job opportunities on campus. Working as a Circulation Assistant at Perkins Library is typically coveted by both undergraduates and grad students because you basically get paid to work on homework.

Pros
-laid-back environment
-able to do homework at work
-easy work

Cons

-pay was kind of low, but i was a student working part-time anyway
-nothing else really

    Pros

Great environment with the university and its resources.

    Cons

Some labs can be very small with very few people. May not be the best for those who like a younger environment.

I have been working at Duke University full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Duke tries to be pro-active with helping employees with things like commute cost, health insurance, etc. Graduate students have official advocates on staff. Fairly liberal compensation policies, and a stable workplace feel. Accommodations for kids, etc. Pets are allowed as long as one is responsible for them.

    Cons

The impression among staff is that pay and promotions are somewhat stagnant. Hard negotiators and up-and-comers would be loathe to work here unless they are in upper management. Parking is always an issue.
