Pros

Good employees to work with. People seem to really care about their work and are dedicated to the company and management.

Cons

Communication lacks some... needs improvement. Employees do not share in the strategic direction of the company and are left out.

Advice to Management

None. This is a family owned business and is run as the family board sees fit although there are many opportunities.

    Pros

Duro-Last Roofing is one of the only strong companies left in Saginaw, Michigan. They provide outstanding products, and employ some talented people. It seems that all ranks of employees there are passionate about having a great product and serving their customers. Duro-Last makes an effort to reach out to customers and serve their needs with a human touch (which isn't all that common any more). Duro-Last offers multiple small perks for the employees (year-end bonus sharing program, good benefit plan and 401k, travel, professional development and training opportunities, nice facility with a large break room - complete with free popcorn *yum*).

    Cons

The salaries at Duro-Last Roofing are rather low. However, as described above, Duro-Last Roofing does have some perks that make-up for much of the low pay ranges. For many people there is very little room to advance in a career, even while the company does 'fill from within' more than most companies. The production workers are the ones who are promoted the most frequently, and so the professional workers often leave the company to seek career advancement. Some of the managers need help or training in dealing with problems between employees on their teams. Team issues seem to linger longer than they should.

    Advice to Management

Step down and notch or two and level-up with the employees.

I worked at Duro-Last Roofing as an intern

    Pros

Good work life balance and friendly coworkers.

    Cons

The product is prefabricated roofing membranes. This isn't exactly a revolutionary field.

    Advice to Management

Keep the interns on their toes. Give them any odd side project os they can learn more about the company.
