Pros

Gallo pay average compensation for the central valley area
Low Cost of living area, it very cheap to live in Modesto

Cons

Gallo runs on an extremely silo'ed bureaucracy where selected MBA's are given preferential treatment for advancement. There are a lot of technical tools but very few of them leverage effectivly.

Advice to Management

Flatten the reporting structure. Force every manager to have 5 direct reports or more. Cut do nothing paper pushers out of the organization. Senior management seems to know a lot about wine, but IT is not their primary thing.

    Doesn't Recommend
    Approves of CEO

    Pros

Pay is one of best in the region
Many good technologies to work with

    Cons

Very bureaucratic with rampant favoritism. Atrocious facilities trailers, former grocery stores and houses as work places.

    Advice to Management

Fire any manager with less than 5 direct reports. Too many layers of middle management. I'd say senior management is doing well.

Political corporate culture, must know the right people
Lack of innovative culture, do what the boss says instead of what should be done.
Top-down driven, little opportunity for making a difference from the bottom-up
Executive habit of chewing up employees.

    Advice to Management

Need better communication on pay and advancement decision making.
