Pros

Beautiful building, cafeteria and gym.

Cons

* Management expects you to work like Donkey.
* All the development projects follow SCRUM, means developer's life is screwed up!
* Managers are not understanding, zero technical knowledge. Hence they don't understand how much effort is required to implement software modules.
* Architects are not good enough in designing. If something fails, developers are blamed.
* Testers enjoy life here and they screw up developers life like hell.
* EMC says that it has open culture as for as timing, that means that there is nothing like 5 hour a day, it can be 10 or 12 hours per day.

Advice to Management

EMC has worst management front. Higher Management has to improve on choosing the product (middle) management team carefully!

    Cons

    No advancement outside of sales
No empowerment at any level of management for promotions, raises, etc.
Company is managed by the stock price which never moves

    Advice to Management

If you are not going to empower managers (below C level execs in Hopkinton) to make their own decisions, eliminate them.

    Pros

Cadillac benfits and good co-workers. A lot of talented people are there and you learn so much from them. Training is highly stressed to keep up with emerging technologies.

    Cons

With very large corporations, the bureacracy grows along with it. If you work for EMC in the field, be prepared to work a lot of hours. You have no work-life balance if you're a field engineer.

    Advice to Management

Practice what your preach and retain good people. Reward & recognition system needs to be revamped. Salaries could be better since more field people are no longer hourly.
