Pros

It's an interesting and constantly changing business, there is a lot of opportunity to grow and be creative, most of upper management is smart and creative, and there are good benefits and perks.

Cons

Hard and creative work is not necessarily rewarded without one asking for the reward. Communication among executives in the company is sometimes not as good as it could be.

Advice to Management

There could be better communication among executives worldwide, and hard, creative work could be recognized sooner.

    Doesn't Recommend

    Pros

Free cds and some nice people who unfortunately are no longer there.

    Cons

They handled the corporate restructuring and subsequent lay offs so poorly. There was no communication from management regarding who would be effected and people didn't know what was happening until the day they were let go. There were so many opportunities to handle the situation better but in the end they just let everyone go and let the few lucky remaining ones clean up the mess as they continued to hire and over pay at the top management level.

    Advice to Management

Stop over paying management and retain employees who actually do the work and have company and industry knowledge. Reshaping a failing industry with nothing but outsiders is destined to fail!

I worked at EMI Music Publishing full-time

    Pros

Relaxed working environment with flexible working practices. This company encourages collaboration between colleagues and allows a certain degree of independant work.

    Cons

The transition period during the sale was somewhat difficult, which is to be expected. Very different cultures between EMI and Sony..Low salaries for admin positions
