I have been working at EY full-time (More than 3 years)

Pros

You get to work with the biggest companies in the UK and get an insight to their business
Training for professional qualification is top class
Exposed to a lot of people and make good connections
Very good for your CV - Respected company

Cons

Rating system is not good - it is very circumstantial hence often people will get good ratings not because of their skills and intellect but because they were at the right place the right time

People are charged on the amount of hours they work and charge the client - this is just bad mentality

Very hard to get a secondment or an internal transfer - system too bureaucratic and limiting

HR exams policy is very strict and not supporting for candidates

Advice to Management

Make exams policy more flexible
Improve rating systems to make them more fair
Make mobility programs less bureaucratic and internal transfers easier to make people happier

I have been working at EY full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

    1. Opportunities to work in multiple domains
    2. Relative to other big fours, individual's roles is more independent

    Cons

    1. Some of the managers show complete lack of ownership in client engagements. They seem to be more interested in Administrative work, instead of sharing their knowledge and take a lead.
    2. Compensation is miles behind the competition. Annual pay hikes are in single digit (percent wise).
    3. Appraisals process is very chaotic. Year end performance is decided by a few, who are rarely involved in active client engagement. Engagement feedback by the client gets less consideration to being in the good books of the upper management.
    4. No long term plan for career development. Even counselors do not show any enthusiasm in developing their counselee's career.

    Advice to Management

    1. Have a long term vision for the team and share it with them. Team spirit is developed by show of faith in all the members, not just a couple of them. Take a personal interest in developing employee's career.
    2. Same standard's should be applied across the board irrespective of employee's role and position. Hold people accountable to their word. A team lead cannot expect other's to follow his/her word, if his/her actions speak otherwise.
