    Top company managers seemed to completely miss the mark on strategic direction aligned with the companies core competencies.

    Advice to Management

    It is really too late now, but I suggested getting rid of Antonio long ago.

    Pros

    Some very good people worked there. I learnt a lot while working @ Kodak. Differrent teams are differrent. My team was good at fostering talent and good at establishing and following processes while staying innovative. Unfortunately, our dept was closed down

    The work/life balance is extremely good. If you can stay away from the politics, and they don't lay you off, you can spend your entire career here

    Cons

    The missteps by the management are legendary. What people don't know that the middle management is very cliquish. The kind of opportunities available to each team is dependent on how well networked the manager is with the rest of the company. As a result a lot of the managers spend a lot of their time schmoozing with each other. If they aren't good at networking, they try to make themselves into Kings of their tiny hills, and then spend rest of the career defending their hill.

    In my case, when the top manager of our dept moved to a better opportunity, her rival took over the dept, and basically ran us to the ground. He gave everyone raises that no one asked for, which increased our cost structure. Then he asked us to focus on goals that didn't help the department. The

    Advice to Management

    Every year pick an employee at random and make him/her a CEO. I'm pretty sure random employees can run the company into the ground as well as outside CEOs can.
