I worked at Eaton Vance full-time (More than 10 years)

Pros

The benefits were great and they made sure employees were taken care of; profit sharing, retirement plans, etc. They treated you with respect. It is a well known and well established company, which always attracted individuals who wanted to work for the company. Training was always made available for those who were interested in learning new skills, but also for those who wanted to further their education.

Cons

More than the fair share of office politics - depended on which department you worked in and what manager you worked for. Certain roles didn't allow for advancement within the company. And the salary isn't as competitive
as it could be, unless you were a contractor.

    Cons

hard to move up unless you went to an upper tier school, lack of communication between management and employees

    Advice to Management

pay your younger employees what the market dictates instead of using a stock purchase plan and 401k as a crutch

I worked at Eaton Vance full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Great benefits, employees are really treated with respect. If you're looking for a place to go retire, this is a good one.

    Cons

Office politics in most areas are of DC proportions. EV is not afraid to spend money on middle management to sit around and talk about what work the rest of us are doing/not doing.

    Advice to Management

Remember there's more to life than numbers.
