I worked at EchoStar full-time (More than a year)

Pros

On the Job Training. Free Dish Network, Exposure to Video compression and uplink technoligy. 4x10 hr work weeks

Cons

Below industry wages. Slow advancement, Below average medical plans. No support from Sr. Management for employees.

Advice to Management

My advise to management is to hire good employees and work to retain them by providing competitive wages, benefits, and advancement possibilities. If you treat your employees well they will respond w/ dedication to your service and customers. The feeling amongst employees is that management cares more about the equipment then them.

I have been working at EchoStar full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

The company provides some employees with good levels of career opportunity.

    Cons

Top management has little or no understanding or appreciation of the work being performed in some functional areas, and they don't have the neccessary skills to understand or appreciate it. Of course they think they know, and they won't accept that they really don't. Top management do not seem qualified to hold the positions they do.

    Advice to Management

    Replace top management.

    Pros

For the minimum requirements set forth for initial employment the money to be made is amazing. Starting even as a base technician allows for huge sums of money to be had as long as you are willing to put the hours in. The ease for advancement is there as long as you stay on top of your accomplishments.

    Cons

The benefits are completely atrocious. The vision and dental are not too bad but the medical would make you think twice about calling an ambulance even if you were bleeding out after falling into a bucket of knives. If you have a spouse, use their medical plan.

    Advice to Management

Take a peek into what happens on a daily occurrence inside the majority of the LSCs. Come unannounced and the world will be shown in its true colors.
