I worked at Ecolab full-time

Pros

Lots of room to move laterally to new positions, not as easy to move vertically. Tend to hire internally. Lots of locations and plants and you are encouraged to move around (if that's what you're looking for).

Cons

Advancements to new positions do not come with corresponding salary increases to account for cost-of-living, increased responsibility, etc. Cumbersome shifts in vision, etc are attempted but things rarely change on the ground floor. Only certain areas get paid attention to, big projects quickly fall out of style and are left floundering.

Advice to Management

Provide organizational support to all employees, not just "pet projects".

I have been working at Ecolab full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Company Car (They will deny high priced repairs)
    Gas card
Decent bonus (DM will scream about bonus for ten months)
    Laptop

    Cons

Out of touch high level managers. Or they don't care.
TR's treated with comtempt and condescension by people sitting in cubicles
Service technician position sold as a sales job
    Work life balance not respected
Too many "emergency projects" pop up every month
Arrogant company. They are NEVER the problem.

    Advice to Management

Stop treating employees like your doing them a favor. They are making YOU the money!!
Ask for REAL feedback from field employees, not these Ecolab friendly softball surveys to get the answers you want to hear. Stop over promising customers anything they want just to get the money. YOU don't do the actual work. Since Bill Gates owns 10 % of Ecolab's stock, I wonder if he'd be happy to learn how employees really feel? Your DMS and AMs play favorites and encourage backstabbing and undermining. It's all about who can make them look good. Where does this pathetic mentality come from? The top? This could be a great company to work for, but with business growing and stock price steady, why change?

I worked at Ecolab full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Pretty Good benefits. Flexible to a degree

    Cons

They will under pay and over work you. Starting at the Service Desk I moved up to NOC Operator responsibilities as well as Management responsibilities and I was still being paid as a Service Desk Analyst. Room for growth is minimal and takes years. Everyone Micromanages and communication is subpar. Also get everything in writing and signed when talking to management because stories change on a daily basis. Job security is null due to new management wanting to outsource and then give extra responsibilities and take personal time away from you. Taking a failing companies management and putting them into a company that was thriving is not the way to go.

    Advice to Management

Learn to work together and keep your stories straight. Outsourcing was a known down fall and now you are hiring back in the US at a lower pay rate. Research and discuss with team mates for bigger changes instead of just implementing them. Also have a back bone to stand up for your teammates when able.
