I worked at Ecolab full-time (More than a year)

Pros

Ability to more or less control your salary. The more you sell the more you earn.

Cons

Very long work weeks and sometimes take home pay does not reflect work accomplished. Also, most restaurant managers treat you as a wrench, instead of a sales specialist. They call you late at night to fix something but complain about the cost of the part even though they don't pay for labor. Restaurant managers have become more and more thrifty and always want something for nothing. Learn to leverage your time... don't go if they don't want to pay.

Advice to Management

The senior managers that I interacted with were forward thinking and very respectful. No complaints.

I have been working at Ecolab full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Freedom to set your schedule, Lots of Benefits, your income as in most sales positions is dictated by your own actions, Very socially responsible company, always looking to support the customers, No discrimination,

    Cons

It's not what you know, but who you know, you will get promoted if you perform, but you will move faster is you know the right people. Most technical positions are really 50% technical and 50% sales, and your value will be determined mostly by your sales ability.
if you want to balance your personal and professional life you better become very good on the technical part of your business, otherwise you will be many hours on the field, you are expected to be available 24/7 to help your customers, but that also gives you freedom to work at your own time.

    Advice to Management

For many years it used to be that you will get promoted only if you came through the ranks, then senior management, actually knew the business and the culture and the company grew spectacularly, but now most of the senior positions are being filled by outsiders who don't know the business, they might be very smart and capable people, but the ECOLAB culture needs to be lived from the field, not just learned in a piece of paper
