    I worked at Edinburgh Napier University for less than a year

    Pros

    - Huge freedom within the scope of the project - Very friendly administrative and maintenance staff - Great overall atmosphere - Responsive supervisors

    I think the biggest issue is that Napier is (was?) still in a transitional state towards becoming more research focused. Most of the academics I interacted with during my time there were very welcoming and happy to discuss their research, but it lacked an overall 'research lab' feel. This resulted in an overall lack of outside motivation and the need for a lot of isolated work and self-motivation, as there were very few...
