I have been working at Edward Jones full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

work where you live (no commuting)
    tremendous variety of work
    supportive network of fellow BOAs
    rewarding work helping clients
solid back office support & training

    Cons

    no upward mobility
    limited financial rewards
BOAs can be moved around like office equipment with little thought for compatibility with FA
small 2 person offices can create tension between "co-workers"

    Advice to Management

There is growing dissatisfaction in the BOA ranks due to the BOA's administrative role changing to sales support. BOAs are now expected to cold call & get people in the FAs pipeline in the office so FAs can go out and add people to the pipeline. The position is turning into a hybrid sales position without any of the rewards.

I worked at Edward Jones full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

You can make good money if you bust your rear and door knock dawn till dusk.

    Cons

    Absolutely no leads.
Watching other people in sales jobs make 10k a month out the gate with phone in leads or other leads.
Door knocking sucks. Tons and tons of rejection. No other business model for building your business than door knocking house to house.
Do not get a BOA from another office. They will just bring with them bad habits to your office and they are untrainable.
If you are Young or Look Young. Find another job. Because you will waste your time door knocking for prospects. Since no one takes young 20 somethings serious. You will work double or triple as hard to build a business as another new older IR.

    Advice to Management

There is Management in this company? LOL. The regional leader, never saw him, nor did he really help me out except for a couple of hours. Granted he gave me a terrible failing office to take over.

My mentor. Couldn't be bothered. He took me out one time for 20 mins. Wasted my time.
