I worked at Edward Jones full-time (More than a year)

Pros

Really good training on the basics of your business. They will give you the step by step guide on how to start a financial advisor business.

Cons

You have to be connected or have good timing to get an office to take over. If you start from scratch, chances are, you will not make it.

Advice to Management

Make the option to move into an office more available.

I worked at Edward Jones full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

A good opportunity for hardcore sales people. Great support from HQ.

    Cons

You can do very well with EDJ as a Financial Advisor if you are a constant sales hustler. The new Financial Advisor gets a ton of training on sales but very little on actual investment knowledge.

    Advice to Management

Pay your new Financial Advisors better. I did well but was unhappy with door knocking and the constant prospecting and low income. Was very surprised they didn't conduct an exit interview when I left since they survey everything else.

I have been working at Edward Jones full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Great training. Plenty of independence. Assistant is not shared so you have lots of in office support. You own office.

    Cons

If you arent fortunate to get a good head start your doomed. Odds of success are not relayed to potential candidates when they are explaining the job. First 3 years expect to be paid slave wages if you dont inherit a $50mm office. No 401K match for FA's.

    Advice to Management

Make asset sharing more fair. Minority Advisers are not treated the same as the good old boys
