Pros

Most ethical advisor firm by far, truly look out for their clients
Great training especially if you have limited to no financial knowledge
Good Support and help for new advisors

Cons

Sales Sales Sales... minimal financial knowledge truly needed
Door knocking and cold calling, in all weather
Very high turnover/burnout rate

Advice to Management

New FAs are sold on the lifestyle and benefits of successful advisors, however little emphasis is placed on the high burnout rate, stress and hardships that takes to just survive in the business.

I worked at Edward Jones full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Get great real world experience of being a financial advisor.
Pretty good pay. Get to actually work with clients on investments.
They pay you to study at home for Series 7 & 66.
Get to speak with top producing FAs in firm.

    Cons

In FACD the supervisors try to put fear in you, that if you don't score well on role plays, you could be fired. No commissions on what you sell in FACD. Program can drag on and get boring in the later stages.

    Advice to Management

Somehow incorporate the FACD FAs to work with prospects that they actually develop into clients and earn the commissions.

I have been working at Edward Jones full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Commission is at 40%, Profit Sharing, 401K, Two trips available to win every year, trimester bonuses. Most FA's are extremely helpful. Clients are excellent. One phone call away from Home Office at all times.

    Cons

If you don't do the work, you won't make it. But, EJ gives the recipe, all you have to do is follow it.
