I have been working at Electronic Arts full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Perks are amazing (large amounts of PTO relative to other companies, free gym membership in on-site gym, decent healthcare, 401K matching etc), robust corporate philanthropy program that gets employees involved, nice campus with good cafeterias and a Starbucks and an on-site movie/game rental place, "fun" culture, good name to put on a resume, very standardized review process with opportunity for 360 degree evaluation/plentiful opportunities to get feedback, HR very supportive of internal mobility (saw a comment from another reviewer that internal mobility is against policy; that's completely untrue). Overall, the culture is fantastic.

    Cons

Management's recent focus seems to be on recruiting new talent sometimes at the expense of current employees, some groups can be very political, some groups have a culture of 24/7/365 work even if it's just to keep up the appearance of needing to be plugged in all the time, typical large corporation issues like tons of red tape and limits on creativity, don't have any expectation of being converted to a full-time employee if you're a contractor.

Biggest issue at this company though is the fact that it will take forever for you to move up. Are you brilliant? You'll be lucky if you get a promotion every 2-3 years. Are you less than brilliant? Be prepared to stay in a position for 3-7+ years before getting promoted. In that sense, it almost feels like employees who are loyal to the company are "punished" for not jumping ship to accelerate their career growth. If you're looking for growth opportunities, this is not the place to be, long-term.

    Advice to Management

In addition to finding new talent outside the company, don't forget about the top-notch talent you already have; prioritize singling out and accelerating the growth of employees that show potential and can bring innovative thinking to their teams.

From a business strategy perspective-- continue to make digital a priority.

I worked at Electronic Arts full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Project focus and strategy were very clear. Sharp focus on results and fiscal responsibility

    Cons

Games getting redundant - needs more originality.

    Advice to Management

Take more creative risks with your titles instead of waiting for someone else to do it first.
