I have been working at Electronic Arts full-time (More than 10 years)

Pros

Mature company that normally get it. There are lots of senior engineers that will not put up with crazy over time and the like. Not to say it is easy but that is part of the fun too.

Cons

It will depend a lot on the team however. Starting out in games is hard however once you have worked a few years things get better.

Advice to Management

Continue to take risks on good games. We have spent too much on some of the companies we have bought. Star wars didn't turn out so well.

    * Great people, great atmosphere
    * Challenging work
    * Applied technologies are up-to-date or even bleeding edge

    Cons

    * Relationship to upper management should be improved. Strategical changes are sometimes hard to understand und not well explained.
    * Not enough transparency about development of salary.
    * Salary is just average.

    Advice to Management

    Talk to your engineers and make sure they are involved when you are making decisions. Trust them.

    I have been working at Electronic Arts as a contractor (Less than a year)

    Pros

    Working with some very smart people. Decent compensation. We produce some great products.

    Cons

    Huge...too many managers. Some of them entirely useless. Company seems to have no direction, fingers in too many pies. Contractors are used as full time employees but without the benefits. There are some members of the team that seem to have no purpose yet mysteriously float to the top.
