Neutral Outlook
No opinion of CEO

I have been working at Electronic Arts full-time (More than 3 years)

Pros

Environment was great and laid back. Who wouldn't want to say they work on video games and get paid for it??!!??!!

Cons

QA testers get paid very little and work lots of OT, especially as you get closer to finishing a project.

Laying off great, hard working employees just doesn't seem to make you look good. Especially when you then go with contract workers that you pay almost nothing.

Advice to Management

Stop laying off good, quality employees!!!

I have been working at Electronic Arts full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

    - Big name which is great for your career
    - Good compensation and benefits compared to most of other companies
    - Great learning opportunities in my team
    - Fun working environment, especially working in game studios

    Cons

    - Politics across teams, especially non-game positions like marketing/HR
    - Not much breakthrough in the past years
    - No free food

    Advice to Management

Take more time thinking about EA's future, as game industry is not in a good state. EA needs breakthroughs as badly as making money

"It's more about how you schmooze than how well you do your job"

I have been working at Electronic Arts full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

Great benefits; fun work atmosphere; if you are good at schmoozing, you can go far

    Cons

It really depends on the team, but worst case is you can get locked into doing the same thing, not growing your skill set.

    Advice to Management

Not all managers are created equal! For many, a good manager makes a big difference in how well the employee performs and grows. More attention should be paid to those in managerial positions to make sure they are worthy of the title!
