I worked at Electronic Arts full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Strong values, seem to reach throughout the company. Good communication by mgmt. Beautiful campuses with lots of food choices, additional benefits - Starbux, gym, etc. Fun company activities. Good community interaction / giving back.

    Cons

It is a large, global, public company. The company can't be as flexible as a start up so know what you are getting into.

    Advice to Management

Disjointed, frequent layoffs affected morale. Some good people were laid off because their departments had to make cuts, while weak performers with no cuts to their department were kept on. Look more into giving people the option to move to a new department / team and stay on versus being cut.

I worked at Electronic Arts full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

If you're lucky enough to be in a main/large office (L.A., Montreal), there's some good perks. 401k, and health benefits were nice. Receive yearly allowance to purchase EA titles (or use on Origin), even new releases.

    Cons

Working at a smaller office, we were largely ignored for benefits. Project decision makers were all over the place and would often wait until a project was almost finished before requesting a change to something that had been in it from day 1, followed by the same decision makers wondering why the project is being pushed back another week+. Favoritism allowed our regional qa manager to promote his favorites to higher paying positions while some that worked harder (i.e. worked on improving qa ability instead of playing games or looking through plenty of fish) continued to be at the nominal pay and responsibilities.

Getting monitors 2 months after our company being bought, with labels from a previously bought and closed studio isn't a good sign.

    Advice to Management

Try and look at who's trying to improve the company versus those with a brown nose and allergies to work.
