I have been working at Electronic Arts full-time (More than a year)

Pros

The environment is progressive and comfortable, to reflect the style of gamers. They encourage creativity and imagination, and seem to be focusing on changing their perception to their consumers. They appear to really be reworking the whole company from the ground up to make their consumers (gamers) happy. The opportunities to grow your career here are very good, if you prove yourself hard working.

Cons

Work here is very fast-paced and the hours can be long. Because of the relative newness of some departments, their organization and structure of projects is chaotic and can change on a dime. You have to be very flexible, able to roll-with-the-punches, and really know your stuff. So far, salary doesn't match the experience and effort expended, although benefits & perks are good.

Advice to Management

Begin asking your actual workers what they need to help them work more efficiently. Ask them about what they know about, and have them put that expertise into the projects they work on, instead of just making typical management decisions that can set them up to fail.

    Pros

Plenty of change that can result in opportunity

    Cons

Continual switching of priorities and constant change in management. After awhile, the constantly evolving environment gets tiresome.

I have been working at Electronic Arts full-time

    Pros

Big games, big budgets, and shipping every year. Nobody does it better than Tiburon.
If you want to hone your developer-self to razor edge perfection of getting *It* done - this is a great place. Process and schedule is world-class.
Some of the tech developer here and begin worked on here is world-class. Benefits are great. Orlando is nice, Florida is nice.
    Many nice and smart people.
    Campus is very pretty.

    Cons

No growth, only 3 games in development, Madden is the only one that is even moderately healthy.
Not a meritocracy - deep relationship-driven opportunity culture. Especially in Production and Development Director areas. Tiburon has a long memory for things it doesn't like or doesn't understand, probably not unlike other places.
Currently constricting, current titles cannot support EA revenue burdens - changes need to be made. Layoffs are regularly about every 2-3 years.
Currently going through a massive culture shift from a studio that acted as a group to a decentralized, game factory.
As great as Orlando is, there is no where to go when it ends. Games are nonexistent, salaries for similar director and management type work are less than EA pays.

    Advice to Management

Move faster - the losses to business and talent while the studio finds it's way may be unrecoverable.
Stretch to grow, you can't win while playing defense.
Be aware of the effect of certain cultures - fight it by promoting inclusiveness, everyone matters.
