I have been working at Elements Therapeutic Massage part-time (Less than a year)

Pros

Professional business culture, uniform, calming atmosphere, clean environment, $10 bonuses for every membership sold.

Cons

Strange hours on the weekends, which makes taking time for my actual life a little difficult.

I worked at Elements Therapeutic Massage part-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

    Nice, new and clean environment

Therapists and other front desk staff were all extremely experienced and genuinely nice people to work with

    Cons

WAY too much pressure on front desk to push clients into buying memberships.

Too much chaos with owners. Every day was a radically shifting target.

The contradiction in "promoting wellness" and "forcing wellness" created a gap in core values.

    Advice to Management

The chaos of throwing a ton of numbers at a client who just walked out of a massage seems counter productive. Saying in a "loud whisper" into the employee's ear "this looks like a good one to sell - go get 'em!" made me cringe when clients were three feet away.

If you hire people and tell them the sales pitch is not as aggressive as the competition, then you should keep your word. It seemed like a bait and switch tactic because the pressure was so intense to sell monthly massage memberships. As a professional, I would have been honest that I am not good at sales and would have declined the position.

Please treat employees with more respect. "Role playing" the sales pitch over and over again between employees and owners was so frustrating and demeaning, especially after the 25th time. The realization that some people just want to try out the introductory rate and move on should be evident, specially in a recession.

Manage time better! Be aware of employees schedule outside of work. If you are sitting with an employee for six hours, asking them to "role play one more time" right after they punched out was not fair or appreciated.

I have been working at Elements Therapeutic Massage part-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

    Pick your own schedule
    Comfortable uniforms
    All supplies provided
    Paid every two weeks

    Cons

New owner, still figuring out how to run a successful business
    No break in between appointments
Low pay (starting $17, taps out at $22)
Can never go full length of service provided
No health insurance or other benefits
You feel more like a cash cow for the company then a massage therapist providing therapeutic
    care.
