I worked at Elite Medical Scribes full-time (More than a year)

Pros

Some of the PAs & Staff Docs are nice & might even write you a letter of evaluation someday

Cons

Most likely you won't get to work enough with one Doc for the letter you are seeking. 9+ hour shifts with no breaks & no food allowed on the job, hard to even find time to use the bathroom or get a drink of water. Pay is very low compared to other companies & everything is done via email so you don't even have a face to be frustrated at when they ask you to complete something or respond within a 2 hour window. Additionally, they make you sign a non-compete contract that prevents you from working else where. Other legal issues are raised on other review sites as well.

Advice to Management

Try to get an established office on the site of larger locations to trouble shoot any employee problems. House keeping is not one of your specialities at the moment.

    Pros

Direct exposure to Emergency Department, great for medical school applicants looking for experience.

    Cons

12 hour shift-difficult to only have a part-time student position and get other opportunities over the summer because they hire long term and expect year round work. This is not a job for only a school term.

I worked at Elite Medical Scribes full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Excellent experience for any student pursuing an education related to the medical field. Scribing is like getting paid to actively job shadow. It is a great way to build connections as well.

    Cons

I would imagine that cons vary greatly based upon the position location and the amount of staff. The most challenging aspects of working as a chief scribe included the amount of time spent on additional tasks (which often seemed to not be compensated appropriately) and, at my specific location, difficulty recruiting reliable scribes which resulted in me having to fill in last-minute on numerous occasions.
