I worked at Entergy as an intern (Less than a year)

    Pros

Large company with lots of opportunity to move around. Great environment to learn with plenty of knowledgeable and friendly coworkers.

    Cons

It can sometimes take a long time for things to happen.

    Advice to Management

    Keep treating your employees well.

I have been working at Entergy full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Lots of opportunity to move around and learn more.

Big company with diverse job types that you usually don't have access to in New Orleans.

    Cons

Very political with a lot of incompetence in middle management--a lot of lifers trying to win the c-suite lottery. No accountability at the middle and top, very hierarchy-driven. There is a culture of blaming downward--if someone gives you an assignment that they have been sitting on for 4 wks or planned poorly they hand it off to you for a 2-day turnaround with no apologies, explanations, or plans about how to avoid this in the future.

    Advice to Management

Hold people accountable for quality in projects. Deadlines are easily manipulated and incentives are not aligned with effective performance. Learn the fast-cheap-good triangle and know that things cannot meet all 3 criteria.
