I have been working at Equity Residential full-time (More than a year)

Pros

It is a great company that understands what it's like to be a parent and has great benefits. You get paid time off to take kids to first day of school! Just starting out employees get two weeks vacation and a week of sick time. I really enjoy working with my team and have enjoyed learning the Property Management field.

Cons

I have only been with Equity for a year and the only con I've seen so far is it can sometimes be difficult to advance within.

I have been working at Equity Residential full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Very dedicated, loyal on site employees that take pride in their jobs.

    Cons

Focus on efficiency and reducing payroll, has caused them to loose focus on customer service, training, recognition and the overall company culture has been lost. What makes this company successful are the worker bees at the properties. Upper management is nothing short of a good old boy network and popularity contest with no basis in performance or results.

    Advice to Management

You've lost touch with the real world of working on site... including workload and the ability to deliver prompt customer service, employee training, recognition, morale and motivation. Stop rewarding yes "men and women" and forcing employees to become puppets. This approach is not improving the customer experience, the bottom line, or most importantly, the stock price.
