Pros

Global footprint allows for growth within the company across many countries. Management overall it dedicated to the employee and to the success of the company. Services is seen as a valuable asset to the overall success.

Cons

Senior management in some areas are old school and expect employees to act as told with little motivation to do more.

Advice to Management

Continue the global push and success - get rid of the old style managers and GM's

    I worked at Ericsson-Worldwide as a contractor (More than a year)

    Pros

    Excellent work environment, professional, good networking opportunities, and get to work on client projects nationwide. High calibre co-workers, and generally good people to work with.

    Cons

    From a contractor perspective, you are not completely part of the team, since you have limited (none) access to documentation and training, which is provided by other companies in this industry. Generally you are processing data in a churn fashion, cookie cutter, and there is more push lately for sending this work to their teams in India, who generally perform less well causing problems for the end customer. However, this company on the corporate level is about maximizing profit, so jobs are gradually moving overseas.

    Advice to Management

    Consider keeping this type of professional engineering job for engineers withing the United States, with good local engineers you cusomers will be happy, and this will benefit you in the bigger picture, even if you sacrifice a few dollars on the balance sheet for investors, and especially for executive bonuses. If contract engineers were more a part of the team, then they would be more encouraged to move into permanent positions, and really promote Ericsson as a leading company. Part of the team means access to tools and training, and more variety in their job function.

    Pros

    The benefits are unparalleled in the U.S. The company puts a lot of emphasis on R&D/innovation and upper management is committed to recruiting new talent to bring in new perspectives.

    Cons

    Poor business planning leads to missed targets and an unhappy customer. Siloed organization means little true collaboration in building a plan to meet objectives. Commitment to new talent from upper management does not translate to commitment from peers.

    Advice to Management

    Hold other members of upper management (rather than every day employees) responsible for poorly planned projects. Place employees in roles that utilize their talents.
