"2nd - 3rd tier consultancy, stepping stones for people who can not get into big firms"

    Disapproves of CEO

I worked at Euro Asia Consulting full-time

    Pros

    - lots of freedom in work
    - most of coworkers are friendly and nice
    - huge learning curve and lots of responsibility given on an early stage
    - much less working hours comparing with big firms (40- 60 hrs on average)
    - If you are good at politics, do not actually have a good enough CV to get into a big company, but is actually smart, then here is your golden chance to climb up fast
    - Fast learning curve in the beginning ( first 1 - 2 years)
    - more a learning by doing experience (if you like this kind of style)

    Cons

    - No transparency in salary and benefits, mostly depends on your negotiation skills
    - No transparency towards promotion either
    - No professional training/ mentorship etc.
    - Little professional development/skillset to gain after the first 1-2 years (depending on how fast you learn), as the client base and type of projects are not that diverse, (always some sort of market entry strategy for German SMEs), and therefore few "real strategy projects", but more kind of "consulting project production line work"
    - The partner does not aspire to build a "world-class" consulting firm, but rather see it as a business and a cash cow, therefore they try to spent as little as possible on people, and cut tight on the margin level of each project etc.

    Advice to Management

    - The biggest asset of a consultancy is its people
    - Cherish the real talents, appreciate them by giving fair treatment and benefits, there is a reason why bright and nice people with great capabilities keep leaving for other firms. and,
    - look at those people who stays more than 2 years, most of them stay not because they love this firm, but because they are not capable of finding a better job, and are good at flattery.
