      Pros

      For the English FE sector pay and conditions are generally good.

      Cons

      Lack of work flexibility. Lack of progression opportunities. Lack of focus on individual staff development and career progression. Whilst pay and conditions are good compared to other English FE colleges after 13 years of real terms pay cuts it’s taken a toll.

      Pros

      I worked for a charity for 17 years before joining Exeter College and I couldn't be happier for the move. The hours are consistent and set at reasonable times of the day, you don't have to work weekends and get a lovely 2 paid weeks off over Christmas. The benefits are really good, and everyone is really lovely. The staff parties at Christmas and in Summer, as well as the department themed ones are a great way to feel appreciated.
