I worked at Expedia full-time (More than 3 years)

Pros

Flexible hours, lots of room for growth and many opportunities, rewarding job. Since the need for shift coverage is available you can change your shift often, based on your metrics. Team atmosphere and really great supervisors.

Cons

strict attendance policy, huge company makes training a bit over-whelming, can be difficult to find resources you need, and policies tend to change frequently.

I worked at Expedia full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

    Great peers to work with.
    Learn a ton about technology.
    Young and vibrant environment.

    Cons

Not a great place to work for women who intend to have a family.
    Inability to execute on campaigns.
    Top-heavy org.
    Hard to get promoted within.
    Big boys club.

    Advice to Management

Grow women to become leaders, not always to be worker-bees. Do not punish women for going on maternity leave.

I was asked to take a different role before I left on maternity leave, but declined the opportunity because I wanted to continue to grow the business I was managing. 2 days before I was to come back from maternity leave, I was told that I would be taking on the role I declined prior to my leave. I felt like senior management used my leave as an opportunity to place me in a position I didn't want to be in. The new role was at the same level as my previous role, so they were technically not doing anything illegal.

I will now be weary the next time I choose to have a baby because of the repercussions it could have on my career. Fortunately for men, they don't have to go through this.
