I have been working at Express full-time (Less than a year)

Pros

I was promoted very fast, I work with great people, and I get a decent discount

Cons

No real cons for a retail job except there are other retail store that pay a lot more. My only real issues is that my sm is a control freak who still manages to lack follow through on important tasks such as payroll issues.

    I have been working at Express part-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

    you have flexibility in the amount of hours you work from week to week; the majority of sales associates are easy to get along with ( 4 different stores in different states - attracts similar cultures)

    Cons

    I've good and bad management staffs; they don't really reward employees consistently; i was denied a previous raise I received simply because of a mishap during a transfer;

    I have been working at Express part-time

    Pros

    The discount is nice.
    The coworkers are very cool.
    SOME of the customers are nice. Especially the ones who are regulars.
    Hours are decent.

    Cons

    Where do i start. The management is horrible. Everyone has different management styles. They all tell you to do 5 different things at the same time and they each get mad if you don't do whatever they said. It always seems like the sales associates do more work than the managers. You always can catch a manager on their phone, receiving phone calls to the store, or just standing around talking about their personal lives. Yet they are quick to yell at you for any little thing. There are very little opportunities to grow. Also, they have a bad habit of adding hours to your shift without telling you. There are many things wrong with this company.

    Advice to Management

    Appreciate your sales associates a little more. Everyone needs to get on the same page. Try to remember what it's like to be a sales associate.
