Positive Outlook

I have been working at Extended Stay America full-time (More than 5 years)

Pros

New CEO is amazing and the new simplified training programs prepare the hotels for success. Some seriously strong leaders here turning this company around. Expecting a very positive future for ESH.

Cons

Recent corporate restructing didn't work out so great for everyone. Company itself is fantastic, but your specific level of satisfaction in your every day job soley depends on your immediate supervisor- just like all jobs! Bad boss? Get ready for a bad day every day.

Advice to Management

Heard mention of 360 reviews that will allow all associates to review their immediate supervisors... still waiting to see these though.

I worked at Extended Stay America full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Wish I could find one but there aren't any

    Cons

Lacking in values; no flexibility; poor upper and middle management.

    Advice to Management

Need a values statement for employees posted on the website for prospective and current employees and then need to work towards making people feel important. Create an environment of give and take where questions are allowed and the open door policy rule is enforced. Allow people to express good ideas and don't view it as a challenge to management.

Employees time is not treated as valuable. Management is inflexible and far from respectful of working parents.

Managers talk about other managers and employees to each other in a negative manner and this demonstrates a lack of integrity.

People should be treated like valuable assets. Many corporate level employees are working 11-12 hours days with no regard to work/life balance.

Advice to anyone thinking of working in the corporate office? Keep looking - there are better companies out there who will respect you and what you bring to the table.
