Pros

You help people, your coworkers are generally smart, and sometimes, you get to make a real difference in people's lives.

Cons

Your cowokers are demoralized by budget cuts, overwhelming work, and it seems like everyone is taking a pot-shot at you, your work, and your agency..

    Pros

    Funding for your research
    Permanent federal jobs are great, if you can snag one
    9 to 5 lifestyle for many people

    Cons

    Impossible to transition from temporary/intern/postdoc to a permanent job
    Focus on appearances and less on science
    White Oak is overcrowded and will only get worse

    Advice to Management

    Work on the process for younger scientists to come in and STAY in if they are high quality employees.
