I have been working at FJC Security full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Full Time, part time, weekly paycheck, vacation, health benefits, retirement. Open Door policy.
Use as a stepping stone for more ethical & morale employers.

    Cons

Vacation at company discretion. Cashback on vacation is a 24 mo waiting period w/o interest. Health Benefits are, inappropiate or inadequate. LOD injury - non existent - worksman comp - watchout. Open door policy as long as supevisor approves @ you must tell supervisor reason to contact HR, otherwise, write up! Fixed schedules are solely immediate supervisor discretion - expect interruptions.
Google 401 K & Provider relation to FJC> Conflict of Interest - maybe a SEV Violation.

    Advice to Management

CEO, Please stop using 401 as personal finance - place earning on time, not every 90 days. Do you think being an aquaintance to the provider of retirement is healthy? Your decisions on wages, look what it has done for you - you get the employees you pay for. How Many have left in last 18 months? How many are you willing to loose along side those contracts?

    Pros

You get to work out doors at Ground Zero. Some, very few great co-workers.

    Cons

No heat, no clean bathrooms, NO RESPECT from either Port Authority, construction workers or management itself. They give you multiple tasks and perform them to the letter, no reward or praise or even a thanks great job is given. Be littleing people is what management does best. If you want to move up, I advise you to get your tap shoes on and start dancing and kissing alot of a$$. Once they realise you do not kiss a$$ as much as they would like, they make your life a living hell.

    Advice to Management

Start treating the guards who brave all kinds of weather and abuse from all the different comapnies that come through those gates with more respect and have their back when it is required. They are human beings just like you, only doing the job you would never do for very little money. So save fake sympathy for someone who cares. We as guards have lives outside of FJC, so dont get upset when someone has a personal emergency and cant come in when YOU want. Take a little interest and give more respect, and you wil get respect back. Dont ask from your guards what you are not willing to give. Respect is a 2 way street.
