I worked at Facebook full-time (More than 3 years)

Pros

Career growth as the company grew. Zuck had a big vision that resonated and was true to it the entire time I was there.

Cons

Inevitable bureaucracy that comes when a company gets larger. Hard to avoid, especially outside of engineering.

I worked at Facebook as a contractor (Less than a year)

    Pros

The environment is high-energy with lots of bright, fun people. Contractors experience very few restrictions or exclusions.

    Cons

A lot of things are happening at Facebook, and the company's size can make it difficult to keep up with it all. Though it's easy to own projects, it can be a struggle to get them completed.

    Advice to Management

Improve cross-functional colaboration. Scale departments more carefully

I worked at Facebook full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Benefits are generous (food, laundry, commuter shuttles, etc). Most coworkers were truly intelligent, friendly and hard-working. Focus on efficiency, depending on the team. No emphasis on face time. Little politics given the current size of the company though they exist.

    Cons

Getting larger and beginning to exhibit large company characteristics: moving slower, less outstanding new hires, great folks leaving. Focus on retention didn't seem to be there, but then again, I left.

    Advice to Management

Mobile app is slow. Too many new hires. Saw a lot of teams scale very quickly without the work to justify the additional heads.
