I worked at Farmers Insurance Group full-time (Less than a year)

Pros

Other than the occasional supervisor observations, you are on your own. You manage your work load. Good training program. Opportunities to move about within the company after a few years.

Cons

Farmers uses software and hardware from the 20th century, and it makes being efficient darn near impossible. My opinion is that Farmers doesn't play fair with the body shops - They use their size to their advantage, and the shops have a tendency to let you know it. You are given time on your schedule to take lunch, but you better bring lunch, because if you take your lunch, you'll always be behind.

Advice to Management

Get real laptops with 4G. Separate as much of the claims adjusting from the claims estimating as possible.

I worked at Farmers Insurance Group as a contractor (Less than a year)

    Pros

You own your own business. The program has become more manageable in the last year. If you can do the program to the letter you can have a wonderful future

    Cons

You have to ask a lot more questions than I did. The program when I entered was it's beginning and the requirements were unreasonable (as I found out later) They have since adjusted the quotas to a more manageable amount. They also recruited me and then the day on contract signing changed things that we were promised. Ask questions!!!!!

    Advice to Management

Be more honest in the recruiting phase.
And more compassionate when we fall.

I have been working at Farmers Insurance Group full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

    Convenient location
    Flexible starting time
Some friendly old timer remaining in the company

    Cons

    Negative culture -
Frequently demoting people and moving people across country to save layoff cost
Company gradually strip away benefits every year while making profit

    Bureaucracy -
Lots of unnecessary procedures and paper work from both Farmers and Zurich boss

    Advice to Management

    Improve communication with the employees.
