    Advice to Management

In a tough economy, costs need to be cut, but the claims experience is going to be costing the company some customers in the long run. I have Farmers but am going to change companies because I know how the claims process is handled.

First of all the workload is so overwhelming for claims handlers that there is not enough time to effectively handle the claims. Calls cannot be answered and returned due to the volume. Claims handler rush through the process just to make sure everrything gets done.

The performance standards are too high for the volume of claims that get assigned. We are expected to answer the phone every time it rings, return all our voicemail, address activities in a timely manner, and adequately investigate for liability. Forty hours is not enough time to get this all done.

The performance evaluation system is a joke. The emphasis is on behaviors is so subjective, anything that management considers a "behavioral issue" can be reason enough to get you put on a counseling memo which means no raise or chance of advancement for you!

Stress is high and morale is low.
