I worked at Farmers Insurance Group full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Other agents are friendly, most of the trainers and sales managers are nice and do want to help you succeed. They throw a lot of events with some great food. Really great training.

    Cons

To just survive, the hours you need to put in are extreme. I was there from 7:30am to 8pm four days a week, eating lunch at my desk. The rates are not competitive enough, so it makes the sales so difficult. Successful agents have worked well past 9pm each day or had previous insurance experience or family in insurance to help feed their quality leads. If you are first starting out, I recommend working as a producer instead. If you have to start paying back your subsidy (that you are forced to take). Balance is due in full or divided in monthly payments over 3 years, so the longer you stay, the more you have to pay (unless by some miracle you exceed your sales goals. If you cannot pay, they take you to court, even if you try to work with them to figure out another payment schedule that fits with your budget.

    Advice to Management

Work with your team to figure out the rates so it is not nearly impossible to sell policies. I've worked with three of the biggest insurance companies in the area and this was by far the worst with rates. Offer a no-subsidy option for agents.
