No opinion of CEO

I worked at Fastenal full-time (More than 8 years)

Pros

Company is growing, if your in sales you have a good opportunity to make good money as you are in a bonus program.

Cons

Not a lot of room for advancement, company seems to have a lot of family and friends so if you haven't been there since the beginning or have family who's been in the company then advancement won't be an option. CEO doesn't feel computer department contributes to helping on sales and considers it to be an expense - IT department only got a very small bonus and since has been excluded from the bonus program and base pay compensated, but is still $5000 - $7000 lower than the national average for the area on annual pay.

I worked at Fastenal full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Good experience doing a lot of different things, ability to manage your own business, good professional experience for young or inexperienced people.

    Cons

pay, employee retention, Christmas bonus was a box of junk food that was delivered on the daily truck of product for customer deliveries.

    Advice to Management

address the employee retention. pay raises, better work schedule, more realistic sales quotas. Costs a lot to train the revolving door of new hires

    Pros

Decentralized company, if you do your job you will be left alone to do it for the most part

    Cons

Very low pay, benefits not all that great. Micromanagment while used to be nonexistant, getting worse and worse by the day.
