I have been working at FedEx Ground full-time (More than a year)

Pros

Good benefits, diversity, great mix of people and those who do well are able to move up in the company rather quickly.

Cons

Expectations are high, poor turnover, lack of room for advancement unless willing to relocate or travel. Management are all salaried and work 10-12 hour days sometimes to get their work done and get paid the same amount.

Advice to Management

More training would be helpful for employees when going into a new position. It seems there is a lack of training at times.

I have been working at FedEx Ground part-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Benefits are great, but are so far down the road they probably get realized by less than 10% of beginning package handler.

    Cons

Constant rush, there is no time after the first days three hours of instruction videos(5 years old) to learn all the ropes and equipment. There is a very high standard of accuracy for loaders. Errors seem impossible to avoid when when packages for your trucks come at a rate of 15-20 a minute amidst your regular run. I have received an an "A" rating and a poor accuracy right up in the same week. They accept no excuses and offer no understanding of over-matched circumstances.

The environment is a large dusty garage that is quite hot in the summer even at 4am reporting
    time.

There is such a large turnover rate that management offers continuous orientation to bring in the next body. You get thrown into the mix your very first day and are expected to keep pace and
accuracy or you are quickly terminated. You prize for making the grade is a 17-19 hour week, and they are there to send get off the clock as soon as the last truck is empty. The only way an adult can survive is to have another job that can offer the other 25 to 30 hours in order to have a full time
work week. However this work is tough, its a advanced 3 hour hard cardiac workout. If you aren't in very good condition you don't have much left for a second job.
