    Pros

Flexible scheduling during the school year.

    Cons

Low pay. Low pay. Low pay! Lack of advancement opportunities - however this was limited by the nature of the business and the economy. FedEx Office is not expanding this part of the business it seems.

    Advice to Management

Adopt the old Kinko's philosophies towards customers and coworkers. There should be more to FedEx Office than competing with "The UPS Store" - let's face it, FedEx is known for delivering packages, not making copies.

    Pros

Fedex Office can be a great place to work. If you are a hard worker, you can advance in the company quickly and go from making a measly salary to decent money. The benefits are good and the company tries very hard to work with its employees and help them when needed. Management varies, but in my experience most managers are fair and helpful. Time off is easily given and generally employees are not given a hard time when they ask for time off. Time off also accumulates and rolls over, and I have known some employees to have over a month of time off built up and they were able to take a nice, long vacation.

    Cons

Since Fedex bought out Kinkos, they've struggled with understanding how the printing industry works. Changes are constant within Fedex Office as Fedex tries to find what "works" and what doesn't. This a lot of times causes confusion and frustration for employees. Many veteran Kinkos employees quit within the first few years of the Fedex buyout and along with them went their talent. Many employees now do not know enough about printing which sometimes leads to problems with customers orders and redos.. Customers get frustrated and employees become unhappy. New hires are not given enough training in how to use the printers and all the equipment within the stores.

Also, due to Fedex losing money with the Fedex Office division, they are cutting back everywhere they can. Stores cannot buy enough supplies to keep up with demand and every store is short staffed. That can be very frustrating for the staff and they cannot complete orders sometimes for customers due to the lack of supplies and staff. That also leads to customer frustration and low employee morale.

    Advice to Management

While management is also limited to what corporate says stores can and cannot do, some managers needs to step up. When a store is short staffed it helps to have the managers out on the floor helping, not back in their office. Conference calls, while important, should not take all the managers off the floor leaving a line of customers and 2 employees to do shipping, printing, order taking, self serve and finishing.
