Pros

The pay is decent and management rarely has to work weekends.

Cons

FedEx measures everything single thing and they are constantly changing the focus. Information comes from 20 different directions so its hard to keep up with it all. There is very little recognition unless you are the top 10 centers in the company.

Advice to Management

Recognize the consistent performers rather than just the top 10 (1-hit wonders) or the most improved. What about those who consistently do well year over year? Quit sending out information and then sending out a correction to your information 3 days later. Every one at the center level is expected to get it right the first time. How about someone in Communications get it right the first time?

    Pros

    Great stability and oppertunitity for the Center Manager level. Center manager has plenty of chances to learn and develop their personal skill set.

    Cons

    Upper management fails to set approriate payroll budgets leaving the team members with reduced hours. Altthough this may be reality at some times, the field support positions hours are never reduced only the ones working directly with customers.

    Advice to Management

    When making adjustments don't forget to consider how they will affect the customers. By reducing the front line, there will be no income to support the salaries of everyone else.

    Pros

    FedEx Office is great in that they are very flexible for people just getting started in their careers (lost of locations and hours available, plenty of opportunity for transfers or advancement.) They provide plenty of ongoing training, and have monthly sales promotions as a way to make some extra cash.

    Cons

    There are limited positions for advancement past a Center Manager, unless you are willing to move to Texas to work at the corporate headquarters.
