Pros

The corporate environment at FedEx is not demanding if you are a reasonably adept politician.

Cons

Little means of long-term advancement other than management, and little value given to skilled performers. Leadership is just plain greedy.

Just this week there were 2 separate stories about FedEx in the news:
1) FedEx earnings estimates were down (due to weak global economy)
2) The CEO, Fred Smith, nearly doubled his salary, and Rob Carter, CEO of FedEx Services, accepted an 80% raise.

Does this sound like they care about you the worker, or you the stockholder?

Advice to Management

Executives, read Enough, by John Bogle. Try to have some integrity, even if all the other CEOs are doing it too.

    Pros

if you just really like a cold corporate environment where the bottom line is all that matters, you will love this company.

    Cons

cold and calculating, very impersonal, You are there for them not them for you.. If you have something that comes up and interferes with the work schedule, that is a problem.

    Advice to Management

Show some compassion. Stop thinking of employees with the us versus them mentality. If you keep people informed and made to feel part of the team, then you will get better results..It is not about treating employees as a necessary evil.
