I worked at FedEx part-time (More than a year)

Pros

The benefits are 2nd to none. Compensation is inline with the industry. Management treats employees fair and equitably. A very forward thinking and progressive company. Not afraid to experiment with new concepts and ideas that can improve employee life balance.

Cons

Call center customer service is very intense and can be very stressful some days. Depending on your personality burn out can build quickly. Call center turnover is high. Ideal for a part-time job but wouldn't do it full-time. Call volume is very high with 200-300 calls in a typical shift.

Advice to Management

Never stop improving technology and computer systems for employee efficiency and increased customer satisfaction.

I have been working at FedEx part-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

A very professional corporation. Good benefits. Everyone is treated equally.

    Cons

Couriers are constantly made to raise their performance goals. This is partly due to a decline in business. Managers are forced to do this because their goals are being constantly raised. At the end of the day it's all about the numbers. that's all anybody cares about.

    Advice to Management

I could say a lot more but what's the point? It would be like talking to a brick wall

I worked at FedEx full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

    - paid training
    - lots of vacation time
    - 5 sick days and 4 single days off the first year (and every year thereafter)
    - 2 weeks vacation after 1 year/3 after 5/4 after 10/5 after 20
    - good health insurance
    - tuition assistance (about $2,500/yr)

    Cons

    - extremely unstable hours (They will work you all sorts of different shifts in the same week!)
    - company constantly cutting benefits every year
    - advancement takes forever (I drove tractor trailers for them. At most carriers, you reach the top of scale in 1-3 years. At FedEx Express, reaching the top of scale takes 15-20 years!"
    - Oh yeah and their volume is WAY down right now. Hours are being cut and it's likely that their no-layoff policy may go out the window.

    Advice to Management

Advance employees up the pay scale faster if you want to keep your employees.
