Pros

Government job...benefits such as telework, flex hours, compensation - decent with locality pay

Cons

No room for professional growth or advancement. Management does not completely understand how to retain employees.

Advice to Management

Do an assessment with employees? NOT surveys - one on one confidential conversations to set process improvement practices into place.

    Disapproves of CEO

    Pros

It's the government, with good benefits
    Local management is fairly good

    Cons

    Absolutely NO upward mobility
Mid- and upper-management is horrible - they promote to get incompetent people out of the way rather than rewarding talented people or successful managers
Even within the agency, OPM is involved in ranking applicants - and they have no idea what we do, are capable of, or who should be referred. And why should they? They are literally 3000 miles away in an ivory tower!

    Advice to Management

Allow upward mobility for EVERYONE, not just those already at higher GS levels
Use the talented people you already have! Get OPM out of the loop for hiring - they do not know what is required, what is done at the division level, or who should be interviewed.
    Communicate! Share! Play nice!
