I worked at Federal Reserve Bank of Cleveland full-time (More than 10 years)

Pros

Great benefits along with a great thrift plan, Safe work enviroment, Great Recogonition programs for service, Team awards and individual awards. Great Human Resouces Department helps you to understand your benefits and really assisted in the layoffs with job fairs, postings, school postings, understanding unemployment claims, Was really there for us during the rough times

Cons

Layoffs, promotions are hard to come by, Salary scales can vary, not consistant with Team ideas, Departments having different rules to go by varies by management,

Advice to Management

Sometimes listen to the lower scale employee and it may help management steer in a different direction. Come out of your offices and see whats going on in the departments you are running.

    No opinion of CEO

    Pros

Great place to retire from if you are patient but it may take time to move up or get promoted

    Cons

Mobility is based on seniority and not education so it may take time to move up or get promoted

    Advice to Management

This is Federal Reserve bank Cleveland not the Federal Reserve bank New York. Yearly bottoms up review of employees would help

    Disapproves of CEO

    Pros

The benefits are great (though declining as in many places). The people you work with (i.e., not officers) are terrific, if not particularly curious or adventurous.

    Cons

The highest executives have been promoted over the years for their "yes-saying" and appeasement skills, hence they have no leadership to offer. They have neither curiosity nor insight, neither vision nor the courage of their own convictions. They are paralyzed by an abusive chief. The "management" separate themselves from "employees" by treating non-officers as children who cannot be trusted. Change will have to come from the outside. Pray that it's soon.

    Advice to Management

"Employees" are not children but colleagues. Treat them as equals and honor them with trust and openness. Tell the truth outside of the family system, and make the changes that need making.
